Rehab

What is integrative rehab and physical medicine?

Medical rehabilitation can include multiple modalities for pain management as well as therapeutic exercises. In your pet’s physical rehabilitation medicine appointment we will assess your pet’s musculoskeletal system to determine what areas to target with pain control and therapeutic exercises both in clinic and at home. We will then work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan based on your pet’s individual needs and your goals for their lifestyle.

What does a rehab and physical medicine appointment look like?

Dr. Haroldson will watch your pet move and perform a musculoskeletal exam to determine where the areas of pain are and which muscles are in need of strengthening. The information from this exam will be used to determine which modalities will be used to help relieve pain and develop exercises to fit your pet’s specific needs.

The treatments may include any of the following:

Photobiomodulation with a Companion Class IV therapeutic laser (Laser Therapy)
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
Massage
Therapeutic Exercises

What should you expect from physical rehab?

When should physical rehab be considered?

Multiple sessions will be required for adequate response to treatments.
